French president Francois Hollande cuts retirement age

France's new socialist government cut the country’s retirement age in the face of the eurozone’s deepening crisis, citing “social justice” to explain a move that goes against austerity efforts across the region.

Campaign posters for Mr Sarkozy's Socialist rival, François Hollande, in Mulhouse, eastern France - France must decide
Workers who entered employment aged 18 will be able to retire at 60 rather than 62, under the decree agreed at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
The decision follows pre-election promises from the new president Francois Hollande to reverse the rise in the retirement age introduced by his predecessor Nicolas Sarkozy in 2010.

“We committed to put this measure in place quickly for social justice for those who started working early,” said Social Affairs Minister Marisol Touraine.
The reforms will cost the state billions of euros a year but can be afforded through higher worker and employer contributions, according to the government.
The €1.1bn (£890m) annual cost up to 2017 - €3bn thereafter - will be met by a 0.1 percentage point rise in payroll charges, amounting to an extra €2 a month on the average monthly French net salary of €1,600, it said.
Around 110,000 people are expected to benefit from the measure in the first full year.
Jean-Francois Cope, leader of France’s conservative UMP party, called the policy move “madness”.
“It risks the downgrade of France’s credit rating and at this rate tempts fate,” he said.

NWN:  But here in the UK they want to have us work till we drop dead!
Nationalist parties need to address the austerity policies now being imposed, because there are going to be an awful lot of very angry and skint British people walking about.

Older people can live much cheaper than young people.

It would make sense to make jobs for younger people as they create much of the mayhem on our streets.

Hope you don't mind me dropping this longish article here..

I notice that theres an exhibition on in Manchester

Its called ''Fast Forward''. I saw it advertised on a tax payer funded ? billboard

Besides the bright acid yellow color what draws the eye is a Star of a pinky red
more or less at the center. This exhibition is also advertised on the banners on the lamp posts

The image on the banner consists of fragments of the majority of the worlds national flags all displayed together
in a vibrant multi - coloured blurr of a head long rush. All Converging / Fast Forwarding On One Point echoing the Star design.
This design is reminscent indeed of the 'Big B', that sculpture set up in the Eastlands area of Manchester, that as since rusted , fallen apart and well had to be taken down due to fears of public safety. It was in any case ugly and didn't work. There you go 'art by committee'

A shard of the British flag is present at the top of the design and gets the most 'band width', as it were.
Oh and by the way you may like to know the exhibition in question is that of an exhibition of 'West African Art'.

One wonders Why West Africa and not any other part of Africa, like Lybian art, Zimbawe art or indeed the art any other Third World Country?

When I saw this I immeditaley thought of the UK/EUs Strategy to set up Job centres in West Africa and to welcome in
50 Million or so, Africans into the EU. Then again Africa is currently in vogue in Manchester and across the World ,
as a war to take control of its Natural resources hots up, yes nothing 'humanitarian or 'disinterested'
about the Global Corporations / Governments / Corporate Fascists 'interventions' and 'phillanthropy'. (On an optimistic note maybe they'll ''pay our pensions'')

I wonder where all the work is, to give, in the current ever progressing (and planned) Economic Collapse, Recession and Depression....

Of course, there is no exhibition in Manchester on the ongoing genocide of Black Africans triggered by the illegal war on a sovereign nation of Lybia.

Never mind the exhibition will take your mind of such thoughts and futures
