Lord Nazir Ahmed Forced To Quit From House Of Lords

New Delhi:  In the first-ever expulsion of a peer in the history of the House of Lords in the UK, Lord Nazir Ahmed has controversially announced his retirement only to Pakistani news outlets, keeping silent in the UK.

As per a report in Insight UK, the House of Lords Conduct Committee has published a report on Lord Nazir Ahmed of Rotherham, concluding that for the first time ever, a peer should be expelled.

The report finds Ahmed to have breached the Code of Conduct for “failing to act on his personal honour” over sexual assault and exploitation.

Ahmed announced his retirement on November 14 after having seen the report. Further, he controversially announced his retirement only to Pakistani news outlets, keeping silent in the UK, Insight UK reported.

“His sudden retirement is an obvious attempt to escape justice, meaning he does not lose his title and has the legal right to return if he changes his mind,” it said.

The report details how Tahira Zaman “was put in contact with Lord Ahmed to help her make a complaint to the Metropolitan Police about a faith healer”.

After offering to help, Ahmed was found to have used his position to sexually assault the complainant on March 2, 2017, lie to the complainant about his intentions to help her and exploit the complainant emotionally and sexually despite knowing she was vulnerable, the report said.

The Commissioner also found that Ahmed failed to cooperate with her investigation and instead attempted to discredit Zaman’s evidence through “denial and dishonesty”.

The allegations of sexual misconduct were first brought to light in a BBC Newsnight investigation. It was reported that there are many women he has taken advantage of, but most were unwilling to come forward due to fear and community honour.

Insight UK said Ahmed’s conduct, particularly his dishonesty and lack of cooperation towards the investigating committee, is a key part of the report. Exploitation, sexual assault, lack of integrity, deliberately inaccurate and misleading accounts, lying about his intentions, deception, acting without honesty or integrity, risk of repetition form just a small list of damning condemnations in the report.

Due to the severe nature of his misconduct, the only recommendation the committee could make was expulsion.

He is due to stand trial in January 2021 facing charges of historical child sexual abuse along with two of his brothers. Ahmed has been charged with two counts of attempted rape and one count of indecent assault, while his brothers have also been charged with multiple indecent assault charges against two children, a boy and a girl. The accusations date back to the early ’70s.

In what is surely a miscarriage of justice, the court at the last hearing had declared that his brothers, now aged 63 and 68, would not be able to recall that far back, and therefore will not face trial, the report said.

On Christmas Day in 2007, Ahmed killed 28-year-old Martin Gombar, a husband and young father of two. Ahmed sent and received messages while driving, before his Jaguar smashed into a stationary Audi killing its driver. He was jailed for 12 weeks, but was freed after serving just 16 days when the Court of Appeal suspended his sentence because of “exceptional” mitigation relating to his community work.

He was due to appear before the Labour National Executive Committee for his anti-Semitic remarks, but to pre-empt his expulsion from the party, he resigned from the party two days beforehand, Insight UK said.

There is a history of other anti-Semitic incidents. In 2005, Ahmed hosted a book launch in the House of Lords for neo-Nazi holocaust denier Israel Shamir, who frequently uses anti-Semitic language in his work.

In 2009, Ahmed, along with several extremist British Islamists, signed a letter praising the anti-Jewish Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan after he walked out of a debate with then Israel President Shimon Peres at the Davos Conference in Switzerland.

In 2009, in an interview on Iranian Press TV, Ahmed said that British Jews who served in the Israeli army should be arrested and charged with war crimes, Insight UK reported.

Thought criminals released from jail sentences in Germany

Today the German attorney Sylvia Stolz was due for release having served an 18 month prison sentence in Germany for the ‘crime’ of having made a speech about German history and the principles underlying the search for historical truth.

First jailed in 2008 (and banned from legal practice) for her words in defence of German-Canadian publisher Ernst Zündel, Sylvia Stolz spoke at a conference of the Anti-Censorship Coalition, held in the Swiss town of Chur in 2012.

The release of Sylvia Stolz follows last week’s release of two of Germany’s veteran campaigners for historical truth and justice, 84-year-old Horst Mahler and 92-year-old Ursula Haverbeck.

The outside world finds it incredible that people of this age should be jailed for anything – still more incredible that their ‘crimes’ were political: daring to question orthodox versions of mid-20th century European history.

Horst Mahler had been prosecuted for several political offences since 2003, and had been in a Brandenburg prison since June 2017, having earlier been jailed from 2009 to 2015. During his sentence he has suffered increasing ill health including the amputation of both legs.

Ursula Haverbeck had been imprisoned for two and a half years since May 2018 and has faced repeated trials after daring to ask questions of the German authorities about what she terms “the biggest and most persistent lie in history” – the alleged ‘holocaust’ of European Jewry.

Alfred Schaefer remains incarcerated for similar offences following his conviction in 2018 for having posted online videos ‘denying the Holocaust’.

The outside world continues to wonder what sort of historical truth gets turned into an unchallengeable theological dogma and has to be defended by an edifice of laws criminalising those who dare challenge it.

In her reaction to the Equalities and Human Rights Commission’s report on anti-semitism in the Labour Party when led by Jeremy Corbyn, she demanded that the Labour Party revise its rules so as to prevent “anti-semites” from being admitted into its membership, let alone stand as its election candidates.

More than that, she suggested that British electoral law be revised to prohibit anybody deemed to be an “anti-semite” from being nominated in elections and that all “anti-semites” holding elected office be evicted from their posts.

After making such un-British and undemocratic demands, this Jewess had the impudence to round-off her tirade by asserting that “… as Jews, we have a cultural disposition to forgive…”.

I felt compelled to try and balance the outpouring of philo-semitic commentary provided by Epstein and other members of the Telegraph’s monstrous regiment of Jewish harpies, so I submitted the following short letter for publication to its editor.

Needless to say, it wasn’t published.

Is Angela Epstein proposing in ‘Keir Starmer must go further to axe Corbyn from Labour over anti-Semitism shame’ (Daily Telegraph, 30th October) that electoral law be changed to make it illegal for anybody who is — or who Jewish organisations consider to be — anti-Jewish, be prohibited from standing in elections, or if holding elected office, evicted from their post?
 
Isn’t it the purpose of democracy to allow the electorate to determine who should become MPs, local councillors and so forth? Who does Ms Epstein think should ‘vet’ the validity election nomination papers under her proposals: municipal Returning Officers (as at present) or, say, the Board of Deputies of British Jews, or the Jewish Leadership Council, or the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism — or perhaps all three?
 
Jewish exultation over the defeat of the former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn is to be expected, but Ms Epstein’s assertion “… as Jews, we have a cultural disposition to forgive…” is a trifle exaggerated. Has she never during annual Purim festivities eaten ‘hamentashen’ (Haman’s ears)? These are triangular pastries smothered with red jam, which commemorate the dismemberment of one of the Persian empire’s leaders, Haman, along with 75,000 of his followers, in the 4th century BC.

Griffin then went onto destroy the BNP, just as he did with the National Front in the late 1980's.
