British taxpayers to pay 'millions' towards secretive Bilderberg meeting security

Taxpayers are likely to have to pay millions towards the cost of policing the secretive Bilderberg meeting of the global elite due to gather in Hertfordshire next week.

The clandestine meeting of royalty, prime ministers and business chiefs is taking place in Britain for the first time since 1998, sparking fears of "violence and disturbance" by protesters.

The Bilderberg organisers, who include Tory Cabinet minister Ken Clarke, do not release a guest list but a roll-call of luminaries are expected to descend on a luxury Watford hotel from June 6, forcing police to step up security.

Hertfordshire police have refused to release the cost of security for the event, which has previously drawn anti-capitalist demonstrators in other locations around the world.

However, they are in talks with the Home Office about a grant for "unexpected or exceptional costs" that is only given out if it threatens the stability of the force's policing budget. The final bill would have to total more than one per cent of the police force's overall spend - or about £1.8 million - for the grant to be successful.

The invitation-only Bilderberg meetings are attended by around 140 members of the international elite.

Previous guests are thought to have included Henry Kissinger, David Rockefeller, Prince Charles, Peter Mandelson, David Cameron and Queen Beatrix of Holland but the list of attendees is different every year.
The cloak of secrecy surrounding the meetings, which ban journalists from attending, has fuelled conspiracy theories that so-called Bilderbergers are planning global domination and world unification.
However, the event is most often likened to a political version of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, which draws members of high society to discuss business and the economy.

Its steering commitee includes Mr Clarke, Cabinet minister without portfolio, Thomas Enders, chief executive of defence company EADS, and Peter Sutherland, the chairman of Goldman Sachs.
Some activists have decided to hold a Bilderberg Fringe Festival - described by its organisers as a peaceful weekend of speakers, comedy, music, workshops, arts and entertainment nearby. However, Dorothy Thornhill, the mayor of Watford, has raised fears that the summit could also bring "violence."
She told the Watford Observer: “I have my concerns about it because it does attract people who can and do cause violence and disturbance.

“But I am confident the police will be able to minimise that and give them their right to protest.
“I am ambivalent about whether this is a good thing. It’s potentially a positive thing as long as things don’t kick off.
Hertfordshire Police said the Bilderberg Group has agreed to contribute some of the cost of security, but taxpayers will have to cover the rest of the bill.

The force said it could not yet estimate the cost to the taxpayer of policing the event or whether it will need to draw on reinforcements from nearby forces.
"The organisers of the event are paying for a private security firm who will be providing security at the venue," the spokesman said.
"In addition, the organisers have agreed to contribute towards policing costs relating to the event.
"As we do not disclose the costs of operations prior to their event, we will not disclose the amounts at this stage."
The last time the Bilderberg Group met in Britain was in Turnberry in Scotland in 1998. This year's event will be at the Grove Hotel in Watford, which has been booked out for the duration of the conference from 6th to 9th June.

Ring of steel will stifle protest, freedom of the press

Infowars has obtained maps released by Hertfordshire Police which illustrate how the entire area surrounding the site of the 2013 Bilderberg Group conference in Watford, UK will be subject to a substantial security lock down which will restrict both protesters and members of the press from exercising their free speech rights.

The maps show that the back entrance to the Grove Hotel will be almost completely inaccessible, partly as a result road closures manned by police checkpoints and partly as a result of pedestrians being prohibited from walking on the road.

This means that the majority of Bilderberg members are certain to use the back entrance and therefore avoid being confronted by protesters or photographed by media – as we predicted weeks ago – thereby defeating the whole purpose of demonstrators attending the event in the first place.

Indeed, the entire area including the stretch of road that leads up to and beyond the front entrance is designated as “pedestrians prohibited” and “no stopping or waiting”.

The security lock down – which is taxpayer funded - is being coordinated under the dubious guise of an “anti-terror exercise,” which is all the more ironic given the fact that the Honorary President of the Supreme Court of Italy recently fingered Bilderberg itself for being involved in terrorist attacks in Europe which took place under the auspices of Operation Gladio.

In addition, Watford Borough Council has rejected a Temporary Events Notice to hold the Bilderberg Fringe Festival, at which Alex Jones and David Icke are set to speak, in a nearby park, meaning thousands of people will descend on the area with nowhere to go.

In rejecting the application, Watford councilors are creating a massive public safety issue. Protesters and media representatives will now be bottle-necked into small areas clustered around the entrance to the Grove Hotel. This could easily lead to injuries caused by overcrowding as well as the area’s immediate proximity to a busy main road.

Watford Council and police authorities need to be reasonable in understanding that a deluge of people will be arriving whether they grant permission for the festival or not, meaning it is completely negligent on their behalf not to approve the application, which is now under appeal.

“By providing an alternative focal point for people to use their right to express themselves that was away from the Grove hotel we had hoped to reduce the pressure in what is a contentious area (the Grove gates),” said a statement by festival organizers.

“The safest and most appropriate place for people to gather was deemed Cassiobury Park, but with the decision makers in charge of community safety refusing to make any effort to appropriately engage and plan with the festival organisers, the hope of providing a safe area away from the Grove hotel has now proved impossible.”

“Watford Council should realise that public and press are coming to the area to document the conference and express their legitimate concerns about the way the Bilderberg group operates – and these crowds are coming anyway, regardless of whether a site for the Bilderberg Fringe Festival is found or not.”

In addition to the security lock down, which will include bag searches and metal detector wandings carried out by G4S private security for anyone entering the protest/press area, local residents have been told by police that they will have to present passports or other proof of identification simply to get to their own homes.

“I think it’s totally outrageous and it is infringing my civil liberties,” Kevin Butcher, a Grove Mill Lane resident, told the Watford Observer.

“G4S may photograph / video the protesters if necessary for safety and security,” states a Hertfordshire Police advisory, which also states that bullhorns will not be permitted although loud hailers will be authorized. The memo also states that no masks will be allowed.

The protest/press site will be open “at 9am and close at 8pm on Thursday 6th June. Thereafter the hours will be 8am-8pm on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th. The site hours will be 8am-2pm on Sunday 9th.”

Infowars is calling on everyone to make their presence known outside the Grove Hotel and send a message to authorities that attempts to stifle free speech and the freedom of the press will not be tolerated.

Nick Griffin's party had initially applied to hold a march and rally from Woolwich Barracks to the Lewisham Islamic Centre.
But concerns over the number of possible counter protests have prompted Scotland Yard to act.

Conditions have been imposed under the Public Order Act, meaning the BNP march and rally must take place between 1pm and 4pm on Saturday, and can only be held between Old Palace Yard and the Cenotaph in Whitehall.
Police said the information available to them meant "it was necessary to impose the conditions to prevent the demonstration from resulting in serious disorder, serious damage to property, and/or serious disruption to the life of the community".
Police said they had tried to negotiate with the BNP about the precise details of the rally, but were forced to turn to legislation when talks broke down.
Commander Simon Letchford said he was not involved in the discussions so could not comment on them, but said there were "some real concerns" in the community about the rally passing through Woolwich.
Police also said the tight controls were imposed based on "current community tensions, the current intelligence picture about Saturday and recent marches and protests held by similar groups".
Letchford said: "Intelligence was telling us that if this (rally) took place against the backdrop of this tragedy - there were some real concerns.
"I would not say that anywhere is 'off-limits', it's a set of circumstances that if they (the BNP) had conducted their rally in Greenwich at this time, we had a real fear that it could lead to violence and disorder. There's a real risk of it turning ugly.
"Our responsibility is to keep crime off the streets."
The Met said they believed in free speech, and that the action was "proportionate".
Letchford said police would deal with each incident "on its own merits" if any splinter groups decided to march in Woolwich.
He said: "I think our message is if you want to protest, we would ask that you do so peacefully and work with the police to enable that to go ahead."
The ban came as Nick Clegg warned against "knee-jerk" reactions to the murder of Drummer Rigby as he restated his opposition to the so-called "snooper's charter" and stated he does not believe the BNP and Islamists like Anjem Choudary should be banned from TV screens.
The Deputy Prime Minister said measures in the Communications Data Bill were "disproportionate" and "unworkable", despite claims from Cabinet colleagues that the legislation was necessary to ensure public safety.
He also warned that any measures to ban radicals such as the Islam4UK leader from TV screens would make them heroes to extremist groups.
The brutal murder prompted calls from Home Secretary Theresa May and Defence Secretary Philip Hammond for Communications Data Bill legislation to be resurrected.
The controversial legislation would require internet companies to retain records of emails and social media messages for a year and allow police and security agencies to access the data, but not the content of messages.
But speaking on his regular phone-in show on LBC 97.3 today, Clegg said: "We have got to react in a calm way but also a forensic way in deciding exactly what we can do to stop that kind of radicalisation, extremism taking root in individuals and communities."
He insisted he was not seeking to limit powers available to the police and security services.
"I have never suggested that the very considerable powers that our security services and the police have - far in excess, by the way, of many other forces in other parts of the world - should in any way be rolled back."
Clegg said mainstream Muslim groups were "furious" that Anjem Choudary, former leader of banned Islamic group Al Muhajiroun, was given airtime in the wake of the murder.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the signal had to go out to young Muslim men "who might be susceptible to some of these vile, perverted ideologies" that such views were "not an acceptable or recognised understanding of their faith of Islam, it's a total perversion and corruption of it".
But he said it was "not for politicians to tell broadcasters who they can invite on their programmes".
He added: "If you were to say the Government are going to go after this guy, we are going to stop him appearing on British television shows, guess what would happen in my view? He would become a hero in his own community.
"Far from actually discrediting his appalling ideology you would actually turn him into a figurehead. Is that smart? I don't think it's smart."

THESE images show a man ­suspected of being responsible for the disgusting graffiti ­desecration of the £7.5million Bomber Command memorial.

The man, of African appearance, is captured moving in and out of the shadows to spray the monument in London in the early hours on Monday.

The Monument to the 55,573 Bomber Command veterans lost in the Second World War, which was opened by the Queen last June, had the word “Islam” sprayed on it in red paint.

The same night the £2million Animals At War memorial nearby was plastered with the word “Islam” and other messages, also in red paint.

The damage came days after the murder of soldier Lee Rigby, 25, allegedly by Islamic extremists of African origin.

Last night Bomber Command veterans said they hoped the footage will help bring the perpetrator to justice. Gerry Abrahams, 90, of Margate, Kent, who flew 31 missions against Nazi Germany, said: “If anyone knows who this man is, please tell the police. He should be brought to justice. I am shocked and appalled by this vandalism.”

Footage from cameras linked to the RAF Club in Piccadilly opposite the memorial shows a man approaching it between 3.10am and 3.20am on Monday.

Wearing a woolly hat and a loose jacket he makes a phone call, then looks around shiftily before spraying a couple of letters on the facade.

He stops and darts into the shadows just before traffic comes past. After looking around, he sprays more letters on the memorial. He moves inside to the statue of seven airmen before walking briskly off towards Knightsbridge.

While he is inside the memorial a car, which resembles an Audi RS4, pulls up for a few minutes before driving off.

The graffiti is likely to cost tens of thousands of pounds to repair. A spokesman for the RAF Benevolent Fund, which is responsible for the memorial’s maintenance, said: “The paint has seeped in to such a depth that the use of solvents is unlikely to bring the memorial back to how it should be. The worst case is taking the damaged stone out and replacing it with fresh stone, which will be very expensive.”

This will be on top of the £1.5million needed to ensure the memorial’s maintenance in perpetuity. The attack came days after actress Dame Judi Dench launched a campaign to raise £1million for the memorial’s maintenance and became the first patron member of the Upkeep Club. The veterans had to raise the money for the memorial themselves. Daily Express readers donated £500,000, a sum matched by Daily Express owner Richard Desmond.

Guido has ascertained confirmation that for at least one night during the general election campaign the Foreign Secretary shared a hotel room with his then driver Christopher Myers, whom he has now appointed as his Special Adviser on the Civil Service payroll. Other campaign staffers stayed in separate more modest hotels and sources suggest that this was not a one off instance. Guido believes it to be the case that it would be usual for the bill for the room – which was settled by Hague personally – to be reimbursed via the Conservative Party’s election campaign expenses. One witness told Guido that the room sharing couple’s body language at breakfast was eye opening.
It is surely inappropriate for someone of William Hague’s status to be sharing a night in a hotel room with his driver – you only have to consider how absurd it would be if his driver were female to see it is completely bizarre even if there were two beds.  The appointment of Hague’s former driver to his private office is controversial because 25-year old Myers has no expertise for the job, no relevant experience and his only qualification for the position is his closeness to the Foreign Secretary.
Eyebrows were raised at CCHQ when William Littlejohn, Hague’s well connected and respected press officer for the last two years, was passed over in favour of Myers – who is currently in hiding from the press. Littlejohn was left effectively jobless after the election until Andy Coulson found him a job with Caroline Spelman. You couldn’t make it up…
Two national Sunday papers have the evidence but, despite journalists putting considerable resources into the story, their editors are reluctant to pursue it. Perhaps because in the words of the song,”no one knows what goes on behind closed doors”…
