Yes, we noted his allegiances in that BBC TV programme aired post-mortem; including also Bono.
As usual with these media icons there is more to this than meets the eye - born in England; went to a preparatory school; won admission to elite public school, Westminster School, but left after a year or so possibly not because he couldn't hack it but temperamentally/psychologically/medically(!) unsuited.
Presumably talent-spotted there by one of the agents of The Influencers and the potential identified for a poor youth role model.
Likely had some talent, but it was eclipsed by giving vent to his self-destructive instincts, possibly with assistance of said Influencers.
