What particularly rankles with me, is that Sassoon obviously had so much power and influence, that he got the then British Empire to start and pursue the TWO Opium wars on total behalf of Sassoons drug empire. China refused the import of Opium but it was all enforced by the bayonet and rifle of British soldiers. This enabled Sassoon to become the richest man to ever have lived. The HSBC bank was started by these people and it's still existant.
