Extremist Examples of Democracy in Rochdale

Part 3  of this report;

General Election April 9th. 1992. 

On the 1st April 1992, we sent a letter to the commanding Officer of Rochdale Police (P division), pointing out that the Anti Nazi league (ANAL)  and Anti Fascist action (AFA) . Two extreme communist groups who actively promote violence against their opponents (see RED ACTION newspaper of AFA dated July/August 1992 of which we have a copy). These two groups form an 'umbrella'  group for the various left-wing groups from the Labour party, for example the Labour parliamentary candidate Cllr. David Williams, to the criminal underworld of AFA. In the letter we stated that these two 'umbrella' groups and all the left were organising to distribute several thousand illegal smear leaflets contrary to the 'representation of the peoples act'.

After the Parliamentary and local election  was completed the returns of all the duly nominated candidates in the elections have been examined and it was found;

1). That neither the Anti Nazi league  nor Anti Fascist action had a candidate standing in the elections.

2). That none of the candidates who were duly nominated in the elections and wo were entitled to issue or authorise the issue of printed material in the constituency/ wards. Which would be calculated to influence the outcome of those elections, did not indeed adopt those costs of these leaflets numbering in their many thousands, as part of their election expanses.

Therefore, an offence had been committed ! 

WE had forewarned Rochdale Police. In the event, they did nothing to uphold the law !

I would draw your attention to a number of letters published in the Rochdale Observer  during the election period, from members of the public. In effect , over a period of several weeks these left wing mobs had harassed shoppers and passers-by via the use of violent language through portable megaphones. Their sheer weight of numbers in their hundreds , and preventing passers by walking with having 'stickers' placed on their persons and having leaflets thrust at them - in this case illegal leaflets !

And that these leaflets were designed to influence these elections. A few of these published letters in the Observer, explicitly condemned the Police for just standing around and doing nothing. 

Our letter to Rochdale Police informed them that these people were organising again to distribute illegal leaflets designed to subvert  the democratic process. As is explicit under the House of Lords v Michael Luft 1975 precedent. In that precedent, Luft a jewish communist and SEARCHLIGHT magazine from Oldham and others, organised the distribution of illegal smear leaflets in their thousands in 1974. 

These smear leaflets were distributed around the country and also in the North West, against nationalist candidates. These offences were investigated by Scotland Yard Fraud Squad and Special Branch  detectives. Their investigations led to successful prosecutions and convictions quoted in the case mentioned herein.

A Parliamentary General Election is a fundamental part of our democracy, and we feel very strongly that the authorities responsible for upholding the law, without fear or favour, would take steps to make it clear they will NOT tolerate the electoral process to be subverted by means of unlawful acts.

All this was pointed out to Rochdale Police, and who were fully aware of the 'House of Lords v Luft  1975' precedent.

Police said in a curt reply to Mr. Henderson, the BNP Parliamentary Rochdale candidate that they would uphold the law. They did not !

Rochdale Police's past performance with regard to election offences leaves a lot to be desired. In 1982, in spite of 'prima facie'  evidence published in the Rochdale Observer  dated Weds, 18th August 1982 in the letters page. One Peter Atkinson, who was at the time was the leader of  Rochdale Communist party, he admitted in his letter that he and others handed out illegal leaflets in Norden, Rochdale. The Police refused to take any action, and we had to resort to once again making a formal Police complaint to the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester  Police. Still the Police refused to take any action, or indeed, explain why they had dropped the case. In fact, we never even got a reply !

We are going to re-publish this document in full. So therefore, there are going to be THREE more parts to this historical and comprehensive document. TWO tier Policing and a Two tier establishment system, has been going on in the UK for decades. 

We are supposed to have a 'Separation of Powers' in the UK. But this report will highlight the Civil service and the Judiciary  as well as the Police, all failed to uphold the law.
